Octolively: A new Interactive LED kit
Wednesday, August 17, 2011
Octolively modules are tileable, digital interactive LED surfaces filled with ultrabright LEDs that respond in complex and gentle ways to stimulus provided by human interaction.
Our "original" Interactive LED Panel kits were some of our very first products, back in 2007. Those kits-- now in their third generation --are
still available, but we've found some other neat ways to build interactive surfaces as well.
Octolively represents our fourth generation interactive LED surface, and features an all new circuit design and a lower cost of entry.
Octolively has smaller circuit boards, 4x8", for easier tiling in a variety of grid shapes. Octolively is digital-- for a wide variety of new response functions. Octolively is open source and hacker friendly-- programmable and hackable. Octolively also a much higher density of motion sensors-- one for every LED, not just one for every 20 LEDs, and the ability to work with any color of LED-- not just blue or white. Tons more detail on the product page, of course.
Octolively begins shipping August 22, 2011, and you can get yours right here!
